Influencer Sherlyne Eisden

In this week’s blog (1st till 7th of August) we interviewed Sherlyne Eisden; we will invite you to our next MYM Book presentation on the 9th of August (2nd Tuesday of the month) 2022. We will share some short videos on “Integrated and Holistic Health”. We will upload one of these videos every day on our facebook.com/share2uplift page.

Sherlyne, could you share with us some information about your family life?
I was born in Curaçao in 1963 and that is 100 years after the abolishment of slavery.  1963 is also the year in which Martin Luther King Jr. held his “I have a Dream” speech.

I am the 9th child of a family with nine children, my oldest brother passed away. My mother has always been a role model for me, she was a very emancipated woman and treated the boys and girls in our family the same way. She always worked as she wanted to be independent. My grandmother was also like that as a midwife (frumu), she also was very independent. My mother always emphasized the importance of our education, and she always made it possible to do whatever I was interested in. You name it be it ballet or playing the piano, but I didn’t pursue these activities.  As I now realize I was not open enough to receive since I had the (limiting) belief that there were better ways she could use the money.

When I think of my mother I often see her as the likes of women as Amelia Earhart, who was an aviation pioneer and the first woman to fly solo over the Atlantic Ocean. My mother too was fearless and had a lot of courage. Once she set her mind and heart to something, nothing could stop her.

We never experienced lack, she not only took care of us but of everyone who she came in contact with. My father was from the very beginning till my pre-teens, my best friend. I remember him as being very patient, kind and dutiful in his work.

I have two sons, Jeremy (24) and Yareth (20), who I raised as a single parent. Both are studying in Holland. . In the eighties I lived and studied in Holland (Maastricht), where I got my Master’s degree in Public Health. For twelve months I lived and worked in Washington DC. I now live in Curacao.

I meet with my brothers and sister frequently, we are very united and we support each other. We would meet on Sundays and spend some quality time together, a tradition starting since my parents were both alive.

Could you share something about any other aspect of your educational background and your experiences?
I started to go to school when I was 3 years old, at Sint Martinus College. I was at school during the uprising of 30 May 1969 and still can remember this vividly, as all children were gathered in the schoolyard waiting to be picked up by our parents while we noticed the smoke of fires breaking out in the town passing above our heads. In that year I finally went to primary school (Johan Maurits basis school) and in 1975 I went to high school (VWO, Maria Immaculata Lyceum) after that, I went to study in Maastricht Holland. Why? In those days there was no internet, there were catalogs and I saw that they offered a study on Health Promotion and Prevention. Ever since I can remember it has been my motivation to prevent people from getting sick, so the logical step was to study and find a job in this area. Maastricht University was by then still in its experimental phase, and the area of study Health Promotion and Prevention was too vague as far as I am concerned, making me switch and study Health Policy and Management, in which field I got a Master’s Degree. After finalizing my studies, I came back to work at the Health Department in Curaçao, where I have been working ever since.

Concerning my experiences, since early on, I was very driven toward the preventive side of health care and once I was back, I started different initiatives in this area in government. I set up and coordinated several multisectoral and multidiscipline working groups on Health Promotion and Prevention since I was convinced that a multi-disciplinary and multisector approach was needed to deal with our health challenges. I always believed in and worked on developing an integral Health Plan, and presented the first health policy plan in 1990. In 1994 I had the opportunity to go to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Washington DC USA, learning from international best practices. During my one year as an intern at PAHO, I visited Canada, Barbados, Bolivia, and different parts of the USA to learn about different types of health systems and to work as an international health consultant. This was a very helpful experience as I could put it to use immediately when I came to Curaçao after that year.

In the late nineties, the Department of Education was working on developing and implementing the Foundational Education (Funderend Onderwijs) and together with the Department of Education I was involved in developing the curriculum on a healthy lifestyle for the new type of education (4 – 12 years old), and revision of the study guide for the 13 to 15 age group (Basisvorming). Nowadays I am not sure whether the educational system has fallen back to offering the more traditional cognitive learning subjects and the expense of the so-called soft curriculum, including that regarding a healthy lifestyle.

During my life and career, I have followed different courses and I was involved in different intentions and working groups for the restructuring of our health care system during different periods. After 101010 I had a key role and responsibility in the transition of the Health Department to the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature, and the setting up of the new organization, including the placement of colleagues within the new structure.  In 2012 I experienced burnout that kept me two years out of running. During that time I followed a mediation course and I am now a certified mediator. This course taught me many things about myself, but it wasn’t enough to get me out of my burnout. It was only after I started a coaching course at the Quantum Success Coaching Academy (QSCA) which has as its foundation the Universal Laws, that I not only could finally heal myself but also learned the necessary tools to be able to assist others in healing as well.

As of 2016, my spiritual journey led me to the doors of The New World Church of The Christ, and since I am a member. The New World Church of the Christ has four arms: Religious, Educational, Charity, and Scientific. The latter is The World Foundation for Natural Science.

It was mainly because of my association with the four arms of the New World Church, that at last all my (online) training, courses, webinars, programs, I participated in and books I read at a given moment made perfect sense and blended as a seamless whole. My quest to come up with innovative, effective, affordable, and accessible ways for addressing our health challenges came full circle. The result is a holistic and integrative approach to health, the environment, and nature. The Master Plan “Heart for Health and Health to Nature” came to be.  The Master Plan Heart for Health and Health to Nature is all about (natural) care of self in the broadest sense, (self) healing, restoring the health of nature, and bringing balance in the relation between man and his environment.

You are a member of the original core group of Share2Uplift. Could you tell us what you have been working on since January 2018 about your efforts to influence your peers and others?
For the past 4 years, I decided to do more on the inside/internal work of self-healing and mastery. . The past years I focused especially on the spiritual part of my development. Meaning that I was not exposed to many coaching opportunities. did some one-on-one coaching based occasionally on referrals, like coaching a youngster, but most often spontaneously with colleagues, family, and friends, I just trust the process and till today I am in wonder and gratitude about how accurate the process works, and how fast in most cases the desired change, shift in consciousness and manifestation comes about. Most changes are fundamental and lasting. For example, the other day one of them shared their progress and another milestone reached since we started working together with me, which I much appreciate. Helping others help themselves is the most satisfying, and to me the noblest and most rewarding form of rending service, as you can see how they gain more mastery and control over their lives. Especially considering that we are all co-responsible for how our lives develop and the collective future we create. The more we realize this and start creating deliberately, the brighter our future.

How have you developed yourself over the past years in terms of your specialization upgrade in knowledge and skills?
After having been involved in the past decade or so mostly on the spiritual side of experience on this Earth as a human (being a Spirit in a human body), in elaborating on and developing the Master Plan Heart for Health and Health to Nature I found myself focusing more on the physical part of the human. That led me to enroll in and I am now in a one-year training to becoming a Health Coach, basically to complement my basic education in health (care). My Master’s Degree at the University of Maastricht was in Health Policy and Management has as I use to say to do with administration and not directly directed toward an individual. So basically I lacked enough knowledge and understanding of the physical aspect of the human body. This one-year course is a solid foundation for me to bring into practice the Master Plan Heart for Health and to expand and complement my existing coaching tools and knowledge. It comprises an alternative and more integrative approach to looking at our health (care) compared to regular medicine. Regular medicine focused on fighting/reducing symptoms, whilst they don’t look for the root causes of disease and try to solve that. They don’t look at what we eat, our social relationships, and the spiritual aspects of a person. As an integrative health coach, I offer just that, to help you to become aware of what they body in all aspects of their lives to be(come)  healthy and how to give themselves what is needed to live more happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. Everything dis-ease has a root cause. Lots of times we don’t want to feel them, and we ignore them, or we go to the doctor and he gives us something to suppress it. Over time, it can develop into something quite serious.  How long is it going to take you from not listening to your body signals? As an integrative health coach, I assist you in identifying the causes of your dis-ease and how to reverse these causes for you to become your old self.  our whole body has an innate mechanism to cure itself, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. That is precisely what I can assist you in tapping into as a health coach.

“My BIG WHY is to live a healthy holistic life on this planet and help others do the same.”

What is your BIG WHY or driving motivation to be who you are right now and do what you are doing now?
I am fortunate enough to know my BIG WHY. From a very early age, that is ever since I can recall, I was interested in and felt connected with God, and the Universe. I followed that path and have come to realize who we are, and the importance for us as “human beings”. to be healthy in body, mind, and spirit. We are created in perfection because we are created in the Image and likeness of our Creator Who some refer to as God, the Universe, Source, or All That Is. To live up to our potential, we need to be(come) healthy (= whole, Holy), be it in this lifetime or not. It is inevitable.

About one and a half decades ago, I set the intention for self-realization or self-actualization. Overcoming my burnout, regaining my mental health, and attaining peace of mind, understanding lately the real fundamentals of our body and its functions, brought me closer to and have more respect and appreciation for nature. Hence the Master Plan Heart for Health and Health to Nature. We depend on nature for our mere survival and to thrive as a species. There is only Oneness, and as the highest expression of creation on Earth, it is our bounden duty and responsibility to ensure that we can all co-exist in love, peace, and harmony. It is a holistic-integrated system.  We need a sound and healthy environment and it is not the other way around, nature doesn’t need us and can continue to exist without us as “Human Beings”. The same goes for our body as long as we are in embodiment. Love (for ourselves) will guide the way to rediscover our true Self, to reconnect with who we are and that we are powerful beyond measure.  Thus, my BIG WHY is to live as it is intended to be, be an example and assist others to do the same.

What are some of the obstacles that you are encountering and how are you finding ways to overcome these obstacles on your way to the realization of these projects or programs?
I work full-time at the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature. However, most of what I have referred to above I do in my spare time, even though it is closely associated with my jobs at the Ministry of Health and the other side of my professional career. My goal and desire are to one day make them as one, however, it is not solely up to me.

Since I consider being active as a Law of Attraction and Health and facilitating workshops and training again, I will need to find a balance in how to better spend my time and organize the days. I need a lot of time for self-reflection and right at this moment, I feel, that I am neglecting things that are not work-related.  To be more successful in reaching my goals and be of service to others, I need platforms to connect with more people. The balance between these three things is one of my biggest challenges.

What are your plans for the coming years and when do you consider that you have been successful in your personal and business/professional personal life, let us say 5 years from now?
5 years from now, I will be on my way to retirement. And I do want to leave something tangible behind. If the Master Plan Heart for Health and Health to Nature is successfully executed in the coming four years and it has reached its goals of happy and healthy people in a healthy environment; that there has been a major shift in the way health care is conducted with a change of focus from curative care to preventive health care, aimed to keep the population from becoming sick; resulting in the reduction of health care costs.

I will be fully practicing as a transformative Law of Attraction and Health Coach and be fully engaged in the four arms of The New World Church of Christ Religion, Education, Science, and Charity. As human beings, our highest potential is to be happy and free.

Do you use your inner voice to evaluate when dilemmas show up? How does that work for you?
I am an introvert and have been doing things intuitively, to later understand how that worked exactly and their benefits. I have always been connected with my Inner Voice but learned to make effective use of it after my training as a Law of Attraction Life Coach. After I joined The New World Church of The Christ, both taught me how to get back to myself, who I am. They taught me mastery over the 4 dimensions of our being, and that is led by connecting to our Inner Voice. It is our connection with the Divine. I have learned to check often during the day within myself for that connection. and how to re-adjust when I feel disconnected. I and when I am off course.

How are you trying also to keep up with your knowledge and skill levels?
I am learning constantly on two pathways. On the one hand, as a student I  work to know more about the four arms of The New World Church of The Christ, e.g. there is a lot of scientific content. Check out the website www.naturalscience.org.

On the other hand, I follow webinars and buy books, and purchase online training, programs, and courses. As I am now working to become a health coach I am also reading a lot of content related to this subject matter.

What are your strengths?
I am authentic to myself. I am grounded and connected. This authenticity and connectedness are interrelated, t. the two are I one.

Do you have hobbies or interests that you are also passionate about?
I have always loved reading. Always in search of answers like:

  • Who are we?
  • Where do we come from,
  • Why are we here, what is the purpose for us being here?
  • Where do we go next?

Nowadays I am digging deeper into the answers to these questions, I am always in search of more knowledge and ways to make things better.  There is always a way of doing things better.

I love to dance.
I love music and started with music lessons (vocal) recently.
I love traveling and visiting and learning about new countries and cultures.

I was always looking for a job where I could travel and gain more knowledge and to some extent was able to do that, however, there is more to come. My sons seem to have this same interest and have traveled to the most remote countries by themselves; I encourage and fully support them in this.

If you as Sherlyne would meet a stranger on the bus (let’s say in Hamburg or Bogota Columbia) and they would ask you to introduce yourself, what would you answer?
I am a truth seeker. As I am a truth seeker, I can change my environment. I am always looking for ways and means to improve things, as I assume that things can always be done better. Based on this I work to come up with suggestions for improvements.

How would you describe Sherlyne in one word or one sentence?
I look for the good in myself, others, and all things and thus precipitate a better world for all.

Who are the persons that have inspired you the most in your /life/career?
God. God for me is everything, and that makes my life easier. The Master Jesus The Christ when He walked this Earth is a: Living Example of who God created us to Be, and made it possible for all to achieve. Especially in this New Era of enlightenment, the Age of Aquarius, more people become open to and aware of this and may need some guidance.

What is a trait that is still a work in progress?
I am on my own too often and need to work on this.  Being by myself feels at times so good and therefore I tend to neglect the connection with others and platforms that are needed to communicate with others.

What was a defining moment in your life?
There were many defining moments in my life. Some things will happen when I am, of course,  that puts me back on track. That was the case for instance when I got burnout. , The most important occurrence, however, was when I had twins prematurely and Yadan only lived for 12 days. But he still was able to communicate with me. It was not clear though to me what the message was, but I promised myself that I needed to find out, what the purpose was for his very short life with me. Things just don’t happen without a reason.

Where do you want to be 10 years from now with your life/career?
I will have achieved some results in the world of health care with a master plan. That we have reached a certain level of holistic health and that it will be well underway and that others will continue this work. That all concepts are implemented and that I will be solely dedicating my time to my spiritual path, becoming a pastor, and living a fully spiritual life.

What would you want your Loved Ones, family, friends, and others to say about you, let’s say 20 years from now?
“Sherlyne has fully lived her life’s purpose and brings it to a victorious accomplishment. Therefore makes her contribution to a better, more beautiful,  bountiful, bright, and blessed world for this generation and those yet to come.

That I am loving and caring, always present and willing to cater to their needs. That I impact their lives positively. Love is everything, without love there is nothing. I hope to be remembered as being in love.

What makes you stay optimistic about the future of Curaçao as we are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, and recession, and in the middle of growing environmental challenges because of the global warming consequences?
The Universe is friendly and acts on our behalf. The future of Curaçao and the world is bright, given that we change our foolish ways and are willing to make better and more intelligent choices concerning self, others, and the environment. As spirits in a human body with power beyond measure, I hope that we learn to expand that Power and use it for the betterment of mankind, the Earth, and all its evolutions. In essence, our basic core as Human Beings is goodness, we only need to go back to that state, by listening to our Inner Voice and live according to it. It is not too late, but we have to take action NOW. The more people join the better.

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Thanks much for the opportunity. Thank you also for your continuous endeavor to bring like-minded people together and align the dots. Together we can make this world a better place…in LOVE.

One of the 250 Influencers of Curaçao

Sherlyne Eisden is a dedicated, visionary, spiritual, knowledgeable, civil servant, with a grand plan “Heart for Health and Health for Nature” for a transformative health care system. For year’s she has been preparing and creating support for a turnaround in our health system that is too much based on addressing symptoms and seldom looks at the causes of illness of patients. Her goal is that the government and the society at large have changed their focus to preventive health care, which focuses on keeping people away from becoming sick.  In this approach, she looks at the 4 elements of a human being, the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. But she also believes that we need to live in harmony with the four elements of our Environment and Nature, being water, soil, air, and fire. This is because Nature can’t support us if we keep destroying it.

Her strong belief that we can make it work is based on her strong spiritual belief that: “We are perfect because we are created in the image of God. To live up to our potential, we need to be healthy. If we aren’t healthy, we will have to return to our Core. It is inevitable. In her master plan, she suggests ways and means to let us return to our Core in Curaçao and the whole of humanity, in collaboration with like-minded people.

As an original member of the core group of Share2Uplift after an absence of 4 years, she is reconnecting back to the Share2Uplift movement to collaboratively achieve the master plan. In the past 6 years, she has gotten deeply involved in spirituality. But she also increased her vast and deep knowledge and skills as a mediator, and coach and now of late she is in the process of becoming a Health coach. For all her work and consistent advocacy for preventive health, we consider Sherlyne one of the 250 influencers of the island, representing the “Health and Spiritual” sector. Look at the list of the Influencers we have interviewed or reported on, up to now.

The goal of the core group of Share2Uplift for 2022

The goal of the Share2Uplift movement is to: “Identify 250 leaders from all walks of life to connect, align and create impactful changes in all walks of life, which includes intergenerational collaboration by the end of 2022.” We will use interviewing Influencers, meet-and-greet events, “train-the-trainers”-programs on “Emotional Mastery” and “Intentionality “as national intervention strategies, to reach this goal on top of our goal to scale up the possibilities to connect, align and create impact via a virtual platform. We believe that by collaborating with Miguel Goede on the virtual Vision 2030 platform, we will accelerate the possibilities to connect the diaspora and others elsewhere in the world and on the island willing to constructively create impactful changes in Curaçao, to join.

As Share2Uplift, we are fully trying to align with this thinking of Center for Curriculum Redesign to promote this agenda in our educational systems and workplace. So, in that sense, we fully support any initiative to make our educational system 21st-century proof.

Share2Uplift aligners are those that:
– Create an inspiring vision of the future;
– Motivate and inspire people to engage with that vision;
– Manage the delivery of the vision;
– Coach and build a team, so that it is more effective at achieving the vision. These criteria are now being polished.

We also consider these 5 values the most important ones for Share2Uplift aligners. They are:

• Peace from within;
• Compassion;
• Respectfulness;
• Integrity;
• Responsibility.

As we will progress towards this goal, we will update you on the progress.
